Looking for Adventure? We’ve Got You Covered
Come play! Get ready for an unforgettable Sports Adventure in the Olde English District. This action-packed itinerary is perfect for thrill-seekers and sports enthusiasts, offering adrenaline-pumping activities and stunning views.
Day 1:
01 Morning
Start your day on a high note with a scenic glider ride at the Bermuda High Soaring School in Jefferson. This facility, one of the largest commercial soaring centers in America, offers an exhilarating chance to experience flight training with certified pilots or instructors. Marvel at the sight from thousands of feet in the air and watch how a plane with no engine utilizes thermals—warm, rising air—to climb and stay aloft.
Next stop, Chester County, but not before stopping to refuel with a hearty lunch en route. Depending on your chosen path, be it through Fort Lawn or Lancaster, you can savor mouthwatering homemade meals at The Wagon Wheel Restaurant (cash/check only), or opt for sandwiches, soup, and salads at the Cake Lady Café. Should you be moving through Lancaster, enjoy a casual meal at Punky’s on Main or the popular 521 BBQ & Grill.
02 Afternoon
Get ready to pump up your adrenaline levels. Experience the breathtaking thrill of skydiving at Skydive! Carolina in Chester County, or zip through the lush treetops at Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour in Rock Hill. At Skydive! Carolina, its full-service dropzone offers tandem skydiving and learn-to-dive programs, but it’s great for experienced divers, too. Meanwhile, over at Canaan, you can enjoy a variety of zipline tours, including the night tour. Either experience is sure to feed your need for adventure.
Reward yourself with a cold beverage at either Slow Play Brewing, which hosts the Twisted Eatz food truck on site, or the Rock Hill Brewing Company, connected to Millstone Pizza & Taphouse. Alternatively, check out Hoppin’ for self-serve beer and cocktails and the Cibi! Cibi! food truck parked outside.
As the evening descends, enjoy a well-deserved meal at one of these casual dining spots: Rock Taco, The Common Market, Millstone Pizza & Taphouse, or The Power House, a food hall in the heart of Rock Hill.
After a day packed with adventure, retreat to one of the comforting accommodations in the area, such as the Cambria Rock Hill, Hilton Garden Inn Rock Hill, or Holiday Inn Express & Suites: Rock Hill, each offering modern rooms designed for a night of relaxation.
Day 2:
01 Morning
Kickstart an adventurous day with a hearty dose of caffeine and fresh pastries at one of the area’s local spots: Jack’s Cafe & Wine Bar, located inside The Mercantile in Rock Hill. Or pop over to Rock Hill Coffee—one of the newest coffee shops to open in Rock Hill—or Knowledge Perk, which has two locations in York County. These charming coffee spots will ensure you’re fueled up for the day.
For water sports enthusiasts—recommended in warmer months—head to SouthTown Wake Park, a full-sized wakeboarding complex in York County. Here you can try wakeboarding or water skiing under the guidance of experienced instructors. If thrills of a different kind appeal to your family, plan a visit to Carowinds (open beginning of March-January 1), a massive 407-acre amusement park straddling the South Carolina/North Carolina state line that offers world-class roller coasters and other exciting rides.
02 Afternoon
For an off-road extravaganza, head on to Carolina Adventure World. Known as one of the largest ATV, UTV, and dirt bike riding parks in the Southeast, this is where you can get your adrenaline pumping. Indulge in a hearty lunch on the way at The Front Porch or save your appetite for wings and pizza when you arrive at Carolina Adventure World.
Wind down your action-packed day at The Retreat at Lake Wateree in Ridgeway. Savor the taste of locally sourced ingredients against the backdrop of gorgeous water views. (Pro-tip: The menu changes several times a week, so make sure to check out what’s being served before making your reservation.)
After a day of fun and adventure, rest up for tomorrow’s outings at your chosen local accommodation. Enjoy the warm hospitality and comfort that the Olde English District is known for, and recharge for another day of exploration and adventure.
